Research Activity

My current research interests are focused on the fields of Pattern Recognition, Image Processing and Multimedia Information with emphasis on Document Analysis and Recognition. In this research field special emphasis was given to the development of novel methodologies for the segmentation of a handwritten document in its distinct entities namely text lines and words. The current main objective concerns the processing and analysis of old historical documents.

Currently, a new large scale European project is in progress (IP) (Project IMPACT - FP7-ICT-2007-1) which started at 2008 and to which I participate as a senior developer.
